Congratulations to the New York State Senate who passed legislation on May 14th that would restore the death penalty for cop-killers. Senate Majority Joe Bruno stated, “Too many law-enforcement officers are being killed while honoring their commitment to protect and serve this state, and many more are injured and wounded in the line of duty. We need to do everything we can to protect our brave heroes, and this legislation will protect our communities, and our police officers from violent criminals.”
Unfortunately, it looks like the democrat-controlled Assembly will likely vote against the legislation because many feel that life behind bars without parole is tough enough. Apparently, these assembly members have not been reading the news lately. There have been a rash of violent incidents against police officers and something needs to be done to protect these brave men and women.
If you kill a police officer you take more than a life, you take away a keeper of the peace and a protector of the peace. Therefore, as a society we should exact the highest level of retribution against cop-killers. Let us send a clear message to the men and women who keep our communities safe, we will do whatever it takes to protect you because of all the times you have protected us.

The Death Penalty is only a deterent if we use it.
We should pay our cops more.
