Local Group Calls for New JPCA Leadership

We received another letter (reprinted below) from the "Sons and Daughters of Middle Village and Maspeth. They are concerned that the Juniper Park Civic Association will continue its quest to destroy intergovernmental relationships and will persist in failing the community.

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

It looks like the Juniper Park Civic Association has done it again. Recent news articles are reporting that Robert Holden has outraged the Mayor's office. As we all know, the Mayor is only one among a list of many elected officials that refuse to work with Mr. Holden and his executive board. Their dishonorable behavior has divided our community and their actions have adversely impacted our neighborhoods. Until we put a stop to Robert Holden and the JPCA executive board, our communities will no longer get the representation, support and help we deserve.

Robert Holden and his executive board have destroyed relationships with Congressman Joe Crowley, Congressman Anthony Weiner, Senator Serphin Maltese, Assemblywoman Marge Markey, Assemblyman Andrew Hevesi, Councilwoman Melinda Katz and Councilman Dennis Gallagher. This should cause residents to ask the obvious question, "How can a civic association get anything done without the support of their elected officials?" Simply put, they can't.

For example, the JPCA failed at negotiating a compromise regarding unleashed dogs in Juniper, they failed at working with elected officials to save St Saviour's, they failed at stopping overdevelopment, failed at reducing traffic on Metropolitan and Grand Avenues, failed at getting answers for the flooding problem and they will continually fail if the honest members of the Juniper Park Civic Association fail to take back their organization.

A civic association is a failure if it cannot bring to the table individuals in government who can address the concerns of our community. We need to support organizations that will foster successful and dynamic relationships with elected officials, community leaders and local businesses. Sadly, the Juniper Park Civic Association has become ineffective, powerless and in desperate need for a change in leadership.

Sincerely,

The Sons and Daughters of Middle Village Maspeth

I know I am going to get bashed for this but the JPCA has done a lot for our area. It is not a bad thing to keep officials honest. Some of our elected officials have proved to be dishonest and unethical. You can't deny that! All this banter back and forth is harming the community not helping it at all.

The community is drawing up it's own cartoon, and it's reserve for Holden and the JPCA executive board for life.

Knock knock
Who's there?
Holden
Holden who?
Holden on for dear life!

It's time for this joker to go! He doesn't represent the community and instead brings embarassment and problems to his neighbors.

"I know I am going to get bashed for this but the JPCA has done a lot for our area. "

They certainly have done a lot--brought the administration's scorn, gone against elected officials who did not goosestep behind Holden, bring costly and frivolous lawsuits against the City (and lost), squandered membership dues and taxpayers on aforementioned frivolous lawsuits, treat anyone who disagrees with Holden and the Flying Monkeys with total distain and as the former JPCA VP stated, then tries to destroy the dissenter.

The present JPCA executive board certainly has done a lot for the community--unfortunately the vast majority of what they've done is damaging, negative, and shameful.

It's time for new leadership for the formally venerable JPCA. The current crop of directors for life need the boot by the general membership or else the JPCA will further sink into its present state of irrelevency.

Hey, anyone notice the very small turnout at the public meeting the JPCA held last week?

Their own photo shows approximately 100 people in the room, yet they claim that over 350 were in attendance. More lies!

And factor in that this was a "public" community meeting, a certain number of the 100 were non-JPCA members. The JPCA claimed they signed up another dozen members at this meeting. An avalanche of support!!! LOL

More proof that the JPCA's claim that they represent over 1,700 people in the community is a complete fabrication and a feeble attempt to proclaim legitimacy.

Everyone by now knows that the JPCA executive board does not hold elections, does not bring issues to their general membership for a vote, and is unrepresentative of the community. In fact, they spend most of their time bashing and trying to discredit the rightfully elected representatives of the community.

The community demands that Holden and the Flying Monkeys resign forthwith and that the JPCA hold new elections for its exective board to save the organization from its current shame and mismanagement.

Well put! It is ok for a Civic to hold an elected official responsible .. but Juniper goes further they attack everyone that's why they have become a failure.

Bob Holden is a disgrace.

Alas two students have recorded interviews with an investigator.

Why doesn't Colin (I am in JPCA's Pocket) Gustavson ask Bob Holden the tough questions.

Like do you have an illegal basement?

Was it paid for by JPCA funds?

Did a buildings department inspector do the work (Al Hasinbein)?

Are the Midville Dodgers all Middle Village Maspeth Residents, Hell how many are from Queens?

How much JPCA dues were spent on the Midville Dodgers (without a vote of the membership)?

Colin won't ask he is scared of Bob! Journalistic integrity my ass!

I DON'T WANT HOLDEN TO RESIGN I JUST WANT A TREASURERS REPORT SO HE WILL BE ARRESTED

Colin Gustavson is a bootlick for Holden. Colin's articles are so slanted, it's laughable. Stop drinking Holden's KoolAid, Colin.

It is about time someone pointed out how the Chronicle is JPCA's lapdog with Colin the number one ass kisser. What a disgrace.

The JPCA no longer has any legitimacy. They are trashing Gallagher but don't seem to have much of an explanation of their past donations to his campaign.

Whats with the Chronicle? They love Bobby Holden. He must have a picture of the Editor of the Chronicle with a midget and a donkey....

You mean a non for profit civic funded a political campaign without a vote of the membership.... is this a violation I think so

The JPCA is made up mostly of unpaid volunteer retirees. What have the elected officials who get paid with our tax dollars done to solve these problems besides hold events in the park and take photos with veterans and boy scouts?
