Investigation Rocks Middle Village

The Patriots were shocked upon returning from vacation to learn that Councilman Gallagher was under a police investigation regarding accusations of sexual misconduct. However, the Patriots refuse to comment on an ongoing police investigation until the facts are present.

Being true Patriots, we hope that the truth is known and justice prevails.

Furthermore, we admonish anyone or any blog that takes this opportunity to use this unfortunate situation as a means to further malign and destroy an individual’s life. Unfortunately, the damage has already been done.

Let us remember that in the American judicial system, you are innocent until proven guilty.

“Let justice be done, or thy heavens shall fall”

Amen Patriots.

Let the chips fall where they may regarding Gallagher. Innocent until proven guilty. Let justice prevail.

This doesn't change the investigations against certain civics. Those are almost complete and we'll be seeing newspaper articles shortly.

Enjoy the summer while it lasts, fall will be quite harsh and cold.

This really is a serious problem. Regardless of the outcome, i believe that his career is going to take a huge hit.

I just hope the truth comes out. For either party's sake.

I heard that the woman told 2 different stories. 1 to the police and 1 to the D.A office.

I've seen this plenty of times. You can't jump to any conclusion to support either side.

We just have to wait it ou.

A huge hit? His political career is OVER.

My prayers go out to the councilman, his family and the woman and her family..Let the justice system play out and lets all hope that truth and justice ultimately prevail...That's the only outcome anyone should be hoping for.

I hope Councilman Gallagher is exonerated and the truth comes out there was nothing criminal going on. I have been a long time supporter of Councilman Gallagher (and the republican party) and I will continue to do so until all the facts are presented and judged.

I met Dennis Gallagher and find it hard to believe he would do such a terrible thing.

I am confident Dennis will be vindicated.

It is a sad day for Middle Village. I hope that justice is served whatever the outcome

Anonymous said...

Maybe the woman was actually Tony Tulips in drag

Unknown said...

There is no way there is any truth to the allegations and i would have words with anyone who differs

The Councilman has always stood and fought besides veterans to ensure that our men and women who served received the services and funding we deserved. A good soldier never leaves a man down or behind and this veteran refuses to do that to Gallagher. Stand tall Dennis and let the investigators do their job. We are behind you

Is it possible to rape someone with only one testical?????

One down! One to go. Hey Mugsy, how many kids did you kill in the neighborhood? I was never able to sleep at night cause your father was always in my garbage looking for cans!!!

"Furthermore, we admonish anyone or any blog that takes this opportunity to use this unfortunate situation as a means to further malign and destroy an individual’s life."

Aren't you doing this exact same thing to JPCA's executive board? What a bunch of lying hypocrites!

Even if the criminal allegations are untrue, it doesn't say much for Gallagher if he hooked up with some woman that he met while boozing it up on a Sunday afternoon at a local neighborhood bar. He is supposed to be representing us with respect to New York City political matters and should be held to a standard higher than a bar slob.

Let us all keep in mind that we should be considerate of this VERY SENSITIVE subject.

If Gallagher did or did not "hook" up with a woman is a personal matter and I do not feel any of us has a right to intrude on private matters. However, if it is proven to be rape than he should be punished to the fullest extent of the law, the same as anyone else no more no less.

Additionally if the JPCA remained above attacks on people themselves I would feel a bit more sympathy regarding the attacks on them. In my opinion based on the lies told by them during the dog issues they have lost credibility and a lot of the respect previously given them. That said attacks on people based on appearance are hurtful and unnecessary as I know only too well. I urge you not to stoop to that level of nastiness.

I agree with Joe Cimino if you are going to state something try to have the courage to sign your name to it! But I also understand the fear that would make anyone hesitate to do so

Hypocrite of the Day (again): Bob Holden

In today's NYT, Holden is quoted as saying: "I would say that he [Gallagher] is not fit for public office and probably never was," said Robert F. Holden, the president of Juniper Park Civic Association.

Really, Bobby? If he was never fit to be your city councilman then then how come you and your misfit crew voted him your man of the year in 2005 and splashed a glowing article in your vicious rag?

What does that say about you and the JPCA executive board? We all know what it says, but we all love to hear your spin.

He is a public figure who represents his community, including me, in New York City politics. My opinion of his character is affected by this, and his sloppy behavior diminishes his ability to effectively represent us. My voicing that opinion, and my belief that public officials should conduct themselves at a higher standard of behavior than Gallagher might have, is not a violation of any right or an intrusion on his privacy.

obvious poor judgement on his part
but drinking had that effect

While the councilman is expected to have a sense of judgment, should not the same be expected of the alleged victim? What is a married woman with children doing getting into a car with a random man she met at a bar? While the allegations fall on Mr. Gallagher, he should not be held fully accountable. She entered his car on her own free will; not under duress or force. These allegations are nothing but horrible lies meant to ruin someone's life. Her inconsistent statements are proof that this is a cruel joke, as reported in the New York Post today, "Investigators, however, have concerns about inconsistencies in details she provided to authorities, the sources said". I pray that all this nonsense can resolve soon.

"Mark Said: There is no way there is any truth to the allegations and i would have words with anyone who differs"

Really, Mark? Where you in the room watching when Gallagher had sex with the woman? Is that how you know it was consentual?

Dennis will have his day in court. In the meantime, I'll thank you to crawl back under your rock and not make any presumptions that this woman is lying.

Men who think rape never happens are often the type who commit such acts.

While the councilman showed a complete lack of good judgement and even less common sense, the fact is the Queens District Attorney's Office is not pleased with the varied accounts given by the complaining witness...How does a 200 pound woman get carried from a car up a flight of stairs?.... How does a woman who does not give consent have her clothing remain intact and not torn?..... How does a woman not inflict any scratches or bruises on her alleged assailant?.... How does she herself not suffer any at least superficial injury?.....These questions were posed by investigators to the witness and given several contradictory replies....The investigators, rather than making an arrest, passed the problematic case on to the DA's office who are now even less enamored than the SVU detectives of the woman....What initially seemed like a ground ball indictment now stands in serious jeopardy....If this sounds like inside information, well draw your own conclusions....Gallagher might be guilty of being a womanizing cheater, but he is NOT a rapist....MARK MY WORDS

The woman is not a public figure who has held herself out as a person representing her community in city government. Gallagher's judgment should be viewed in stricter scrutiny and at a higher standard than hers.

wouldn't the world be a better place if everyone behaved as if they were going to be held accountable for their actions!

We elect our officials to do a job what they do in their personal time is not for anyone else to judge, if you believe in a higher power that is where we will all be held accountable.

That he used his public office for either an illegal act or a personal liason is what bothers me as far as this is an elected official.

I think he's guilty, mostly because I personally know various women he has hit on and harrassed.
