BOB HOLDEN RIGHT? JUST FOR A BRIEF MOMENT...

For a brief moment Holden was right but now his inaction and greed is failing and dividing our community.
My doctor constantly nags me to get more exercise so each night I take a long stroll through our beloved community. During my evening walks I have the opportunity to observe the many great features Middle Village and Maspeth have to offer. My dog and I see it all, young and old couples walking hand in hand in Juniper Park, families walking their dogs and kids playing soccer, basketball and sometimes even baseball (of course when the upper fields are not locked). The peaceful tranquility of our neighborhoods is something we should all relish.

After walking around the park I often pass 7-11 on my way home. I remember when Bob Holden led the protest against 7 – 11 where many of the community’s opposition was voiced. I recall having conversations with community leaders, church officials and residents who opposed the store and their concerns that a 24 hour store right in the middle of a quite residential community will attract unruly loiterers and destroy the tranquility of our community and create quality of life problems.

For awhile, people protested and no one patronized the store to shop, and 7–11 was treated as an unwanted interloper. Holden was right to protest the placement of the store in our peaceful community! The community concerns were warranted because recent data furnished by the NYPD reveals an upsurge in vandalism in the immediate vicinity of 7– 11. The local police precinct has been responding to reports that homes and motor vehicles are being damaged by groups of kids loitering around the store. I have observed this type of activity as I drove by a few times during the late evening hours.

This type of activity would surely compel the Juniper Park Civic Association to vehemently protest against 7-11. After all the JPCA protests everything right? To my chagrin there have been no protests, no mention of the problems in the Berry and no JPCA action! Why you may ask? It is very simple and it is a matter of finances. It seems that the owners of 7–11 have become generous contributors to the Juniper Park Conservancy that helps fund Bob Holden’s Midville Dodgers. The very same Dodgers featured in another post where the finances of the organization were called into question.

It is very sad and disconcerting that a Civic President has put our community up for sale! His fiat is “Donate to my Dodgers and you can ravage our community.” This is precisely why no protest has occurred at the Walgreen’s site. Did Walgreen’s also pay a tribute to avoid a JPCA protest? Did Bob turn his back in exchange for monetary gain on community favorite, Artis Drugs? I believe these questions answer themselves.

I challenge the press to take a closer look into the finances of the Juniper Park Civic Association, The Midville Dodgers, and the Juniper Park Conservancy. After all it is our tax dollars that are being pumped into these groups and all should be subject to public review. You never know what you might find when you turn over a rock under the berry tree.

Here we go again. Remember what goes around comes around. Like I said before, I thought this site was better than this. I am sure you all will have a good time ripping into people....just be hopeful it is not you someday!

Please this isn't "ripping into people" this is a fair analysis of an issue that is in our community.

Do you disagree with the Post?

Did Bob swear to oppose 7-11?

Did Bob encourage people to boycott?

Did Bob then take money and give a big Juniper Berry article in favor of 7-11?

Is any of this information incorrect?

What was going around is coming around.

This site is so much more superior to the other Crap. This is fair and to the Blogger who is threatening "Remember what goes around comes around"

We know! Just look what Juniper has done to its own members:

Kicking them out of meetings

Throwing Due money in their face

Pulling the microphone from a member speaking

Closing their meetings to the public.

The list goes on. People are no longer afraid to voice an opinion

Thank God.

How awful to see this sophomoric Photo Shop picture of Mr. Holden.

I thought this site was going to be different.

That blogger who is critizng this Post is crazy! Has he/she ever read what the JPCA does to anybody who disagrees with their leadership in the Juniper Berry.

Attack
Kill
Malign
Lie

This organization is meanspirited and deserves to be exposed.

Bob depicts Elected officials community leaders and volunteers in a negative fashion in his magazine.

Holden has made himself a public figure by seeking an elected position for his political party.

I want to thank Patrick Henry for printing all comments, even those authored by King Holden of Juniper.

It's quite interesting that the NYS Secretary of State lists the JPCA as a non-profit entity. However, Guidestar.com, the list of all the non-profits in the country does not list the JPCA.

Someone should look into their legal status to see if there's funny business. Patriots?

Did you say the same thing to the Crap if so I am sure it wasn't posted.

Did you write a letter to the Juniper Berry about the depiction of public officials as Humpty Dumpty and Pinocchio or Missing in Action or allegedly asleep at work?

Did you protest the mean-spirited nature of our civic newsletter?

Did you protest baseless allegations against our Councilwoman?

Did you argue when the Bob removed our civics Counsels without cause?

Did you complain when the civic refuses its members an accounting of our finances?

Do you protest Bob calling the buildings department on everyone and hiding like a coward in his illegal basement when someone calls on him?

I am sure you didn't because
BOB wouldn't let you. Keep drinking the Kool-Aid

PS
This site is different then the other one your comment appeared!

Walgreens is an as of right site. Anything could have been built there as long as it conformed to zoning in the area.

Not everyone was against 7-11. Many residents were happy and were shopping in the store the day it opened.

The kids can't hang around in the park after 9pm but dog walkers can.

The one thing I do not understand is why NO STANDING ANYTIME SIGNS around Juniper after 9 pm.

The crap posts treasurer reports of all the politicians . Bob post a JPCA report or a Midville Dodgers report. Do you have something to hide? Oh ,you don't know how to count.

Oh stop crying already with this Midville Dodger rant. It is getting so old already.

Are you a frustrated ball player?

Bob knows how to count $2 for me none for you. Please I need money so I can slander people. My web site costs lots of money.

I believe the reason for the No Standing signs (9PM until 6AM?) around Juniper had something to do with a drag racing problem many years back...The no standing enabled the NYPD to more easily combat the condition...I'm not certain on this, but I'm reasonably sure.

The no parking signs are there to deter kids from hanging out in the park. Only one problem 9pm is to early especially during the summer. You now dispurse the kids into the neighborhood. You should have a place where kids can assemble with some sort of oversite. I'm no saying they should be able to go wild but if they want to play ball or just hang out it would not be a bad thing. They would need to keep the noise down so not to disturb the residents near the park. A 11pm no parking would make more sense.

It is hypocrisy at its highest level. Bobby throws stones at elected officials claiming that most are a slave to lobby and special interest money, the truth, however, is that Bob is the "Parker Brothers" of Pay to Play

Is there any way the public can get their hands on the JPCA's financial statements to see if everything is in order?

Anonymous said...

I second the motion.

Let’s take a look at JPCAs financials, and I am sure that everything will be found to on the up and up.

But wait a second– JPCA does not even give a treasurers report to its members?

How can that be? Does anybody here belong to other organizations that don’t do treasurers report?

Does JPCA have no accountability to its members?

Does JPCA have no accountability to the taxpayers?

Does anybody have any ideas as to whether we can get Holden open their “financials” to the public?

Patrick Henry, do you have any ideas as to what needs to be done here?

I also believe that from Memorial Day through Labor day, the "No Standing" regulations around Juniper park should be changed to "11pm to 6am". Many summer nights, both kids and adults would like to enjoy the park after 9pm but can't because of the parking restrictions. Maybe both the Parks Dept and DOT can revisit this issue.

Stop feeling sorry for Bob Holden. He has brought all this upon himself with little to no help from outsiders. He brought this upon himself when he decided to vehemently attack anyone that doesn't do EXACTLY as he says and aide him in achieving his own agenda, which has nothing to do with his civic mindedness but rather his business interests and personal political aspirations. You see, at one time he was a great civic leader, but then he started to believe that he was greater than his organization and decided to use both his organization, his baseball program and anything else at his disposal for personal gain, profit and as a stepping stone to attain political office. He probably could have achieved all this if he had just kept it on the down low. Instead, he attacked everyone in an effort to mainatin maximum exposure and even unleashed his lap dogs - Christine, Ed, Lorraine, Tony and a small handful of blind followers to do some of his real down and dirty work so he could try to maintain an "I didn't say it" defense. Problem is - it's over with. The man behind the curtain has been revealed. Now it is his time to face the music. To put it in baseball terms, guess he was more comfortable as the pitcher than as the catcher.
