Gallagher Takes a Brave Stand before Grand Jury

Councilman Dennis Gallagher decided to testify and tell his side of the story despite his lawyer advising him not to appear before the grand jury. One can surmise that Gallagher decided to testify because he is innocent of the charges against him and he believes he will be exonerated. Even court experts say it is relatively unusual for someone accused of a crime to take the stand before the grand jury, unless that person is truly innocent.

The Councilman faced the grand jury and admitted that he committed adultery and not rape when he had sex with the woman he met at the bar. Not surprisingly, his accuser is calling him a liar and his testimony is bullshit, but according to police reports it seems that the woman is one that is not telling the truth. One example is that despite her claims of having bruises all over her body, police reports do not mention these bruises. In addition, further supporting Gallagher’s claim was the testimony of the neighbor who lives next to the councilman’s campaign office. The neighbor told police that he did not hear any screams or any commotion that evening, but he did notice the lights on in the office and heard people conversing. This account does not support that a violent and vicious attack happened that evening inside the office.

We believe that Councilman Dennis Gallagher showed a lot courage by testifying and not hiding behind procedural law and attorney advice. He could have easily declined to appear before the grand jury but he decided that he would show the public that he has nothing to hide. Based upon the evidence and the testimony given, we hope that the District Attorney declines to prosecute.

My, oh, my:

Does this mean that the JPCA's character assination crusade against Gallagher could possibly be undermined by the truth?

Will Bob Holden call around to all the local newspapers and apologize for his "Guilty until proven innocent" accusations against Gallagher, as he used his valuable time and effort to call around to libel the good Councilman?

JPCA Executive Baord d-bags: We'll add this to a long list of your public humiliations.

Good Luck the majority of the community stands behind you.

Dennis Gallagher cheated on his wife and was accused of rape. While its still up in the air if he is guilty or innocent one thing is perfectly clear. What Dennis Gallagher did was hardly brave.

Here's a guy who ran on family values and patriotism while cheating, drinking and never serving in the military.

Read some of his comments and speeches over the years and see what a pompous, pius hypocrite he is.

Also lets not forget that he was very good friends until recently with Bobby Holden and his pack of ass kissers.

Hopefully Dennis Gallagher and Bob Holden will exit the political stage togther.

Good riddance!

Gallagher INDICTED!

Something must have been convincing to the Grand Jury and the prosecuters kept the case alive.

So Gallagher cheated on his wife. What happend to the "upstanding christian conservative" he has said he is?
Rape or not, Gallagher is a lying scumbag.
I hate Holden as much as the next guy but Gallagher is no better.
Too bad Gallagher defenders are have been and will continue to attack the accuser.

Gallager figured he could beat the system by testifying and being adamant about his innocence. It doesn't help that he admits to cheating (lying) on his wife.

you are so full of it one does not know where to start. Dennis is a creep--a married father of two who is out drinking and picking up women, by his own admission.

There are twelve jurors who will now decided if he is guilty of rape. If you are a true and patriotic American, you will recognize that it is not the role of individual citizens to judge guilt or innocence--unless they are seated as a juror.

For everyone's sake, leave this mater to the judge and jury.

"According to published reports, the councilman told the grand jury that he is guilty of adulterous sex with the woman, but that the sex was consensual and occurred after several drinks."

His act can hardly be characterized as brave in any sense of the word. He admitted to adultery and driving under the influence (he stated the incident occurred after driving to his office with the woman "after several drinks"). These are the acts of the coward and inherently weak - to allow themselves to be in these type of situations.

His act is one of a desperate man trying to get away with the lesser of the evils, by stating that his behavior may have been immoral or unethical, but not illegal.

There is no need for the Patriots to support this kind of behavior or try to give a favorable spin to the matter at hand.

This is just the latest of divisive discussion that the Maspeth and Middle Village area has been mired down by in the pass year or so. The ones that have been losing in all of this are the residents.

We truly deserve better than the Gallaghers and Holdens of this world that bring the focus away from the important community issues by focusing the attacks on personal issues.

To Midvillager:

I could not agree more... while the St. Saviors destruction is an important issue, we need to address the 4-6-8 family buildings being built in middle village. The middle village i grew up in on 1 and 2 family homes is going away. The huge terrible looking multiple-family dwellings are not what Middle Village is about. The nice little neighborhood I grew up in is becoming another over-crowded mess. There is NO parking as it is and the huge buildings with 15 or more residents make the parking worse.
Gallagher is concerned about his political future, Holden is concerned about his own property values and his baseball team and everyone else is left holding their nuts.
We need real representation in the city council and someone that will have the clout to get things done. Gallagher was a deal the same as Ognibene between the Reps and the Dems. Time to change that.

COMMUNITY ALERT:

With Gallagher's indictment, the City Council Ethics Board will meet next week to decide if they are going to expel him.

This would lead to a Special Election to fill Gallagher's seat for the remaining 18 months of his term. Special Elections don't have primaries or party affiliation.

Few citizens vote in Special Elections (no day off from work, and little publicity).

Holden and his lickspittle sychophants are most likely planning to get Bobby or another hate-filled substitute into Gallagher's seat.

As we've seen recently with Bobby's embarassing demoting to CB plebe, he's not a popular guy in the community.

However, the home all day JPCA executive board will give away free coffee and pastry to their membership to try to get one of their own into power. This is the only way Holden could possibly slither into an elected office due to his widespread unpopularity in the community.

If a Special Election occurs one of the Patriots must stand to run to fill Gallagher's seat and prevent the calamity of a "Councilman Holden" (doesn't that phrase just make you want to retch?) or the like from destroying the neighborhood and taking their idiotic message of divisivness and self-interest into city-wide politics.

Remember that once in office through a Special Election, it would be much easier for an enbumbant to run in the '08 election.

We've all been warned. Be alert, be vigilant. Don't let the aforementioned nightmare scenario play out. Thank you Patriots.

Just reading the NY Daily News about Gallagher being indicted. Though its pretty much up in the air, it does look pretty bad for Gallagher.

No matter what his political career is DOA. Here was a guy they were taklking about running for Maltese's seat in the next election.

You can bet Bobby will either run or get Tony N to run for Gallagher's seat if he has to resign. GOD help us. If Gallagher resigns hopefully Elizabeth Crowley would get the seat, instead of Bobby Holden or his Igor, Tony N...

PS. I was reading how Gallagher an extra $5000 a year extra as the "Minority Whip" There are only 3 Republicans on the 51 member city council. Do you really need a "Minority Whip"?

Must be really tough trying to rally those other 2 republicans to your side....

You can count on both me and my spouse to show up and vote. Believe it of not, we had no idea who Bob Holden was before this whole incident. His tactic of calling all the newspapers and drawing negative attention to our community has brought me to despise him and his hate mongers. Christina Wilkenson has displayed herself as psychotic and a social misfit. I'm probably going to get grief for saying this, but I'd like to see Kathy Masi run. She truly strikes me as someone who cares. That is not a feeling that I had gotten from Gallagher. I had sent Gallagher an e-mail once expressing some concerns and received a nasty response back. Not very becoming of a councilman.

The people of Middle Village really have to be vigilant. Keep an eye out on what Bobby and his gang over at the JPCA are up to. And don't think they won't pull a deal with either or both parties to make sure that their candidate gets elected, and does Bobby Holdens bidding

You can bet even as we speak Bobby is making calls...

Make sure you elect a candidate from either party that answers to you, the people of Middle Village, Glendale and Maspeth, and not Bobby Holden.

hey anonymous, are you kidding? Kathy Masi? gallagher speaks through her mouth. aren't you a naive one. she was appointed by him to go on cb5. she gets him to do mailings to bring people to her so called civic, and her issues have already been taken care of by others. but because she is a viscious loud mouth, she takes the credit for other people's efforts and hard work. yeah lets put her in the council seat.

Masi is better than Holden. Better yet, would you rather have that nut Wilkinson? Now that's a scary thought!
