Shea Stadium Should be Named Taxpayer Field

Finally, a voice of reason in the current milieu of vacuous intelligence that exists in the City Council thanks to the lone republicans.

The two councilmen, Vincent M. Ignizio and James S. Oddo, both of Staten Island, called on Tuesday for the stadium to be renamed Citi/Taxpayer Field. The two men will soon be the only Republicans on the 51-member Council. "Perhaps a name change is in order, since it will be the taxpayers of the country who will foot the bill for not only part of stadium, but for the company itself," Mr. Ignizio said. "The taxpayers are spending billions for this company to maintain its operations and deserve the recognition for their largess."

Mr. Oddo quipped: "Not naming the field after Jackie Robinson in the first place: mindless. Tom Seaver stepping onto the new mound for the first time: timeless. Actually acknowledging the contributions of the hardworking taxpayer: priceless."

Perhaps we can name Bob Holden's locked ballfields in Juniper Valley Park, "Taxpayer Fields".

Speaking of calling Holden's locked ballfields "Taxpayer Fields", check out this link from the Parks Dept: http://www.nycgovparks.org/parks/junipervalleypark/capital

Apparently we all spent over $2.1million of our hard earned money so that Bobby H would have a place to play and exclude others. You heard right, $2.1 million (!)

And Wilkinson claims that they have a right to their locked ballfields because "users" pay a few drachmas in permit fees. Puleeesse!
