Elizabeth Crowley Screws Maspeth

Unfortunately, the 30th Council District had a dimwitted political neophyte during a time we needed an effective leader to fight for our community.

Maspeth is getting a High School! and Bob Holden is reeling!
Isn't it ironic?

No it's not ironic. This proposal first saw the light of day in 2007 when Dennis Gallagher was in office. Gallagher's wife co-owned a construction company with Serf Maltese's son-in-law and in her marketing material she boasted about her connections with SCA. Liz can take a part of the blame for this, but it was Gallagher who screwed Maspeth (as well as that granny in his office).

Blame Gallagher??? The same Gallagher that stopped Cross Harbor defeated Keyspan and helped create classroom space by converting schools K 8 tell the Poster above aka Holden the DOE picked the perfect time to put this forward when Holdens puppet Elizabeth Crowley was elected.

Now Bob Go hurt AMY some more... do you jurt her in your illegal office in your basement?

Another crushing defeat for Holden and the JPCA Executive Board. How many times are we going to let these losers fail?

The JPCA needs new leadership, and stat, as it's become irrelevant in MV and worse, a detriment.

Although the rest of the Council generally votes the way the local council member votes on issues affecting their community, in this case we have found out that Council Speaker Christine Quinn has successfully lobbied the rest of the Council to vote in favor of the school in order to curry favor with the Bloomberg administration. Since the Speaker can and does make council members' lives miserable if they vote against her, most of the members are intimidated into going along with whatever she dictates.

This is how things are done behind the scenes in this city, and the residents are the ones who end up suffering.

Bloomberg stopped Cross Harbor.
Bloomberg gave us the park at Keyspan.
We had to build additions onto all our local schools because Gallagher failed to push for our downzoning.
On top of that he lobbied for this school to be built so he and his wife could profit.
Yes, what we are stuck with today has more to do with Gallagher than Crowley.

If Gallagher was so terrible, why did the JPCA vote him their man of the year and fete him on the cover of their magazine? I don't understand.

None of the local schools went to the 8th grade. What does that have to do with downzoning? That was a ridiculous comment above.

Simple:

No Bloomberg = No School

Why does Crowley's official City Council website incorrectly state that her current term ends in December 2012?

Thanks to Dennis Gallagher, our area now has zero representation in the city council. The man is completely ineffectual and will now be spending most of his time defending himself against felony charges on taxpayer-funded time. For the good of the constituents he was elected to serve, Dennis Gallagher should resign and allow someone who is not under a cloud of suspicion – and actually wants to work – to take over the responsibilities he has been evading for some time now.

The NYC Council has never voted down a new school anywhere in the five boroughs. This was a tough fight for anyone a junior councilperson or a senior councilperson.
