Elizabeth Crowley Fails again

Elizabeth Crowley is so woefully ineffective as an elected official, that she can’t even persuade the City Council to honor their tradition of voting lock-step to back up the local council member on an issue. Council Speaker Christine Quinn has told her council members to vote yes to the Maspeth high school. They will shoot down Crowley's anticipated no vote first at the 9:30am Land Use Committee today and then at the full Council during the Stated meeting.

Political insiders say that Crowley has made a deal with colleagues and the administration to put on a show for the residents of the 30th Council district. She basically gets to vote no as a feeble political grandstand for those who oppose the school while the Council votes yes so parents are appeased.

We guess during an election year, the support of Bloomberg and the UFT is more important to third termers than the quality-of-life of constituents. What do they care? It's not their neighborhood.According to the Queens Crap, this is also an amazing show of no confidence in the freshman council member from district 30. But Dizzy Lizzy probably doesn't care. Let's remember that "Schools First" was her special election platform. Unfortunately this won't be a school that puts Maspeth, Middle Village, Glendale and Elmhurst kids first.

Unfortunately, this is only the beginning of the end for the residents and community groups of the 30th Council District. This show of no confidence will also be reflected in the upcoming budget when our ineffective, novice and junior councilmember gets only the crumbs that fall off the budget table.

Crowley should rip Quinn apart for his failure to honor the Irish by marching in the St. Pats parade

Why does this site bother Crowley is Brain Dead. She got her start in Politics by breaking in under union boss Brian McLaughlin. I MEAN UNDER

What is Holden saying now? He supported this Numnutz for Council and things are falling apart around here.... Graffitti is on the rise as is crime the streets are dirty all while it takes airbrain crowley 5 months to open her office.. I pray her term is ended in November even if we have to elect Mickey Mouse who has more intelligence than these idiots

Crowley needs a chance.. she has to bow to Holden who else will support her. The good groups here will suffer as Bob uses Dizzy Lizzy to hurt our community

Do you think Amy will be safer on Grand Avenue at dismissal time then in her house on Caldwell Avenue?

Hey Bob Potvin is not the only Villan here... you may have committed the same offense

Hey this site is pathetic yeah Crowley is weak and maybe not the best for our community but who are we to vote for the crook Ognibene? Or Mr. Big House Como?

Under New mangement my ass same shit different day. Bob Holden wants schools for our Kids just not in our back yard ship our kids to Grover Cleveland Franklin Lane and Forest Hills High School!

I think Como will be back in the Council this time next year. Dizzy Lizzy is not putting on an impressive early tenure...

And Como will be more effective? A third Republican out of fifty council members?

Quinn runs the council with an iron fist like Sheldon Silver does the NYS Assembly.

Regardless of party, we need an injection of democracy where political leaders cannot control the agenda.

This site is quoting the Queens Crap?

I am in the twilight zone!

No it's not ironic. This proposal first saw the light of day in 2007 when Dennis Gallagher was in office. Gallagher's wife co-owned a construction company with Serf Maltese's son-in-law and in her marketing material she boasted about her connections with SCA. Liz can take a part of the blame for this, but it was Gallagher who screwed Maspeth (as well as that granny in his office).

Although the rest of the Council generally votes the way the local council member votes on issues affecting their community, in this case we have found out that Council Speaker Christine Quinn has successfully lobbied the rest of the Council to vote in favor of the school in order to curry favor with the Bloomberg administration. Since the Speaker can and does make council members' lives miserable if they vote against her, most of the members are intimidated into going along with whatever she dictates.

This is how things are done behind the scenes in this city, and the residents are the ones who end up suffering.

Simple:

No Bloomberg = No School

Thanks to Dennis Gallagher, our area now has zero representation in the city council. The man is completely ineffectual and will now be spending most of his time defending himself against felony charges on taxpayer-funded time. For the good of the constituents he was elected to serve, Dennis Gallagher should resign and allow someone who is not under a cloud of suspicion – and actually wants to work – to take over the responsibilities he has been evading for some time now.
