I don't see the good news in this. Why couldn't she adopt? She could have given a good life to an orphan, instead of inserting someone else's egg and sperm into her body.
I had fertility issues when my husband had first decided to have children. Thankfully, I was able to conceive with the use of fertilty drugs. All women should have the choice to explore EVERY option regarding motherhood. We should NEVER comment on a woman's decision on their chose on how they will realize their DREAM of being a mother. Shame on those individuals who believe what is right, acceptable or wrong when it comes to woman's choice.
I am the product of the process of "inserting someone else's egg and sperm into someone's body. I love my mother because she had the strength and courage to bring me into this world. I love my life and I am thankful for the technology that has consumated science with human love. My mother decided to create a miracle and Melinda Katz hace decided to create another miracle. God bless you Melinda and god bless your your beautiful son.
The true beauty of medicine is giving people hope when there is no hope. The magnificence of technology is making the impossible possible. Our extraordinary advances in science have allowed us to break free of unfortunate physical circumstances. Therefore the individual medical choices presented before us have become vast, complicated and extremely personal. No longer should the “conventional ways” dictate the dreams of woman because for so long those ways have denied the realization of so many hopes. Adoption may be the solution for the some and IVF may be the choice of others. As women and as humans we should applaud both and refrain from injecting our own biases.
Explain to me how having a baby this way, with someone else's egg and sperm, is not selfish when you can adopt a beautiful human life already in existence.
Elizabeth Crowley is the father.
